Ukraine Food

Located right next to the greenery of Noorderplantsoen, on Kerklaan, is a restaurant with a story and a mission. 

In 2022, three Ukrainian friends opened Ukraine Food here. When the war broke out, Kateryna and Iryna came to Groningen, where they, along with their friend Valentyna, decided to sell Ukrainian delicacies. They started with a stall at the Grote Markt and later managed to establish a restaurant next to Noorderplantsoen. A portion of the proceeds is donated monthly to organizations supporting Ukraine. 

A beautiful outcome of this mission is that not only other Ukrainians can enjoy familiar food here, but also locals, students, and tourists can experience traditional Ukrainian cuisine. Think of classics like Borsch, Chicken Kiev, and Deruny (potato pancakes filled with cheese). For dessert, options include Varenyky or traditional pastries. 

The focus on traditional pastries is at the second location of Ukraine Food, called Tasty Traditions. Additionally, Ukrainian liqueur can be ordered for home consumption. These delicacies can even be delivered to your doorstep via home delivery services. Thus, Ukraine Food brings a touch of Ukrainian flavor to Groningen. 

The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Thursday starting at 17:00 and from Friday to Sunday starting at 16:30.
