Hanasato

At the Gedempte Zuiderdiep, there are numerous cozy terraces and hospitality venues; a Japanese kitchen cannot be missing in this lively street. Fortunately, the restaurant Hanasato is located here.

However, Hanasato is not a typical large-scale sushi or wok restaurant with an all-you-can-eat buffet or takeaway service, as is often the case in the Netherlands. This smaller, intimate restaurant brings out the true quality of Japanese cuisine. Here, they pride themselves on being the only dining establishment in Groningen that cooks in Washoku style, the traditional Japanese cuisine that has also been declared intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO. Hanasato is therefore rightfully included in the Michelin guide, which especially praises the sashimi and shabu shabu. In this second dish, thinly sliced ingredients are briefly cooked in boiling broth.

You can enjoy one of the menus full of Wagyu, fish, and other fresh ingredients from the Japanese kitchen from Tuesday to Sunday from 18:00. If you are with a group of 15 people or more, you can make reservations outside regular opening hours.
