Sunday, May 12 marks the very first SterrebosLive of the season. From May to September, you can enjoy outdoor concerts in Sterrebos every 2nd Sunday of the month. The admission is free and you can take your own food or buy a snack there! Kicking off on Sunday, May 12, are Harry Loco (WoodstockConcert) and Reverse Cowgirls.
For an authentic Woodstock vibe, Harry Loco is your man. Since 2001, Harry Loco has been traveling the world with his music. He has played and toured with the likes of Slade, Peter Green, Eric Burdon, Esara Mowawk, and even Melanie. Recently, he sang with Freek de Jonge in the campaign against the consequences of gas extraction.
His live performances stand out for the atmosphere he creates and a voice that echoes all the colors of the rainbow. This, combined with the distinctive clear tones of his Landola guitar and the ripping harmonicas, creates a true Woodstock style. The lyrics touch on war, peace, and injustices in the world, but also on hope and love. It inspired Harry to write songs about The Age of Aquarius and the Summer of Love.
Reverse Cowgirls, as they describe themselves, is a double one-man band, delivering what they call 'cowrock trashgrass'. The band's name is quite a story and refers to a poster. They can probably explain that themselves.
The band does things differently. Joost Dijkema (Loud Squirt) and Michiel Hoving (Sixtyniners, Saucyspoon) both play guitar while simultaneously operating the drums with their feet. The drum kit is split. The result is a country-trash sound that "makes your nose bleed, your mouth dry out, and your nose hair curl spontaneously." Get ready to swing! Blood-curdling ballads are also part of the repertoire. Joshua ten Doornkaat accompanies the gentlemen with his double bass.
The Music Pavilion in Sterrebos can be reached via the forest paths on the side of Hereweg or Kempkensberg. Preferably come by bike or on foot and don't park your bike too close to the Music Pavilion.
